Horta self catering cottage rental - Charming home in the Azores, Portugal

Old lava stone houses were rebuilt preserving the regional style and adding all the facilities of a modern life to allow your own way of living. The property is in the locality of Areeiro, on the south side of the Faial Island just 10km from the airport and 18 from Horta town. Despite being very small, Areeiro has a mini market which is 5 minutes away from the cottage and a local restaurant 2 minutes walk from the cottage. You have the sea in the horizon and the Varadouro sea bay, one of the most beautiful places on Faial is just 2km from the house, and is a special place to dive, fish, swim in the natural pool, and walk on the shore or just lay under the sun. Visit the Capelinhos volcano Interpretation Centre and discover the old lighthouse ruins, climb up to the top of the volcano, swim in the old whale hunting port or watch the birds and endemic flora. Azores is not a beach destination or otherwise susceptible to mass tourism; indeed, its capricious climate (3 seasons in one day) probably impedes the flow of tourists. The islands' green volcanic mountains and picturesque black-and-white towns look set to remain unspoiled. Help us keeping it this way.

Faial is part of the central group allowing an easy visit to other islands mainly to Pico and São Jorge. Using the sofa bed available in the living room can accommodate up to 6 persons. The entry hall gives access to all the rooms: two sleeping rooms, kitchen, bath room and a living room. The living room has a dining area for six persons. The sociability area is equipped with sofas set, trunks and a small table. There is a TV, DVD and radio with CD. A salamander-stove for the low season cooler evenings. There is a complete bath room including bidet. Hair dryer is available too. Kitchen is fully equiped for 6 people. You will find a mini wine cellar with bottles from Pico Island and the main land Portugal.

Outside Area:The terrace, outside the kitchen door, has table and chairs allowing for a drink or a meal in the open air. Nearby is a small barbeque. On the front yard there is a private parking and a garden with a large lawn. By the side of the garden we have an orchard were you can walk around or seat down for reading.
