Villa La Chiusa has parts dating back to the 17th century and parts to the 18th century when it was enlarged and refined with decorations. It is situated on the level countryside in Lucca area, with a large lovely Italian garden full of flowers, fruit trees, and old lemon pots. All the garden is surrounded by an old garden-wall keeping it nicely secluded from the outside world. This elegant villa has been in the family “for ever“. In the old days it was part of a vast estate with the homes for farmers behind it. All the complex was called “La Corte”, a typical lucchese country settlement still existing in some areas of Lucca countryside. The owner is a creative lady who is still maintaining the traditional manufacturing of old lucchesi silk fabrics for house decoration. Her studio is located in the lemon-house, an annex to the villa. It is consequently understandable the way she recently fully restored the house, equipping it with all the modern appliances, but yet maintaining the traditional charm and character of a typical period villa, with terracotta tiled floors, and frescoed rooms. Antique precious furniture and refined upholstery and decoration make the villa elegant and charming, a special stay for art lovers.

Villa La Chiusa is located 2 km outside the walled city of Lucca with downtown Florence about 1 hour away by car or train, half an hour to the sea; the ideal location to explore Tuscany and beyond. It is also possible to rent bicycles; it is only ten minutes from the villa to the center of Lucca on bicycle. There are local shops within 3 minutes of the villa and several very fine restaurants nearby.

Rental notes: NOTE: Prices quoted are for up to 8 people; for up yo 12 people please contact us for prices. €1000 (or $1,000 USD) due in cash on arrival and returned at the end of your stay less any damage or unpaid fees. Price includes linens, utilities (except heat and air conditioning), housekeeping 5 hrs/day, 6 days/wk), welcome dinner prepared by Chef Alberto, final cleaning. Heat, air conditioning, and telephone are metered. Extra cooking and cleaning services available on request. The cook Alberto charges $120 per dinner plus food and wine; he does the shopping, prepares the meals and serves at the table.

Ground floor: Living room with piano, two sofas and several chairs. Dining room settings and seats for 14. Sitting/TV room with stereo, enormous collection of CD's, satellite TV with large flat panel TV, sofa and comfy chairs. Large kitchen and Breakfast room with seating for 6 - 8. Double bedroom with two large antique book cases and a nearby WC, a twin bedroom with a full bathroom with shower. First floor: Master bedroom with some wonderful decorative frescoe work and with large ensuite bathroom (Jacuzzi and shower), second master matrimonial bedroom also with light frescoes and an ensuite bathroom with shower, a twin bedroom and a bedroom that shares a bathroom with shower. There is also a central salon where all of the bedrooms are connected. Second floor: is for storage only.

Outside Area:For your enjoyment in the summer-time, inside the private garden is a 26 foot diameter newly built round in-ground swimming pool. The sunny terrace is lined by terracotta planters with a profusion of geraniums. The outdoor "al fresco" seating group is a pleasant setting for coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening.
