Loch Lomond holiday cottage in Scotland - Scotland self catering cottage

The Old Smiddy was built in 1862 and was used as a blacksmiths shop until the middle of the 1900's. There is a lot of history surrounding the place itself which enjoys modern features as well as reminders of years gone by. The Old Smiddy Cottage is built over Ballagan burn where there used to be the Old Smiddy workshop where there was a trap door and the cart wheels were fired up and dropped down through this door to cool down. The Apartment has been newly refurbished and forms part of the original blacksmiths house and has many feature to this day. Until recently the Old Smiddy Cottage was used as a very successful B&B and therefore has all the requirements requested by the Tourist Board. The Old Smiddy Cottage is attached on to the main dwelling but is completely separate in every other way.

We are situated within Loch Lomond National Park and only five/six minutes walk away from Loch Lomond and all it has to offer, peace and quiet away from the bustle of city life Various sporting activities including shooting, canoeing, off road driving and quad biking are available locally, details can be supplied on request. Balloch is centrally located for Glasgow and the airports and a train journey from Balloch will take about 40 minutes and cost around £5 return. There is also a bus service that you can take to Glasgow and also a bus service to the east side of Loch Lomond near to the foot of Ben Lomond. Also buses can take you to Drymen to join the West Highland Way. There is beautiful countryside all around this area.

Cottage and Apartment are available for short breaks either Friday to Monday or Monday to Friday, a minimum of three nights stay at a cost of 60GBP a night for the Cottage and 55GBP for the Apartment during October to April. NEW YEAR at the Cottage 2009 - 70GBP a night minimum three nights stay.

There is a comfortable sitting room with black watch tartan carpet, a bookcase full of information and magazines. There are two en-suite bedrooms, a double bedroom which includes a sofa bed that could be used for one adult or two children and a twin room with two single beds. The Apartment has sitting room with Lindsay tartan carpet, double-en-suite bedroom, single bedroom, kitchen and shower/toilet room. The cottage and apartment are all on one level, apartment has a small step down to bedroom.

Outside Area:A patio for guest use. Private parking is available and can easily accommodate a car and boat if required.
