Val di Fassa ski apartment in Dolomites - Trento ski holiday apartment rental

Dolomites Apartment (in "Villa Silvia") has been my family’s holiday flat for many years and only recently we decided to rent it. For the reason just exposed, the flat is in perfect conditions and we would much appreciate high care if you decide to rent and visit it. Dolomites Apartment ("Villa Silvia") is one of the typical buildings in the Italian Alps, mainly made of concrete with the external finish in local wood. It has been recently painted in light blue with the typical valley motive of a white cornice around doors and windows. DolomitesApartment is furnished with the typical alpine solid wood furniture, cut from the woods in the valley and manufactured locally. Because of our part time presence on site, the building administrator “Rosario” takes care of the apartment. He lives just 20 metres from the building and he is the person that will turn the heating on a couple of days before your visit (in winter time). He has spare keys and he is a good reference for any kind of problem that might arise. He and his wife are also in charge of the final cleaning and preparation for the next visitors.

Val di Fassa is one of the best served and most accessable valleys of the Dolomites. For mountain lovers, this is the paradise for 4 seasons experiences. Instead of listing the sports available at top level, I am trying to think of the one non-available, and the list is still blank! Fontanazzo is a small village in the high part of the Valley. It is placed at 800m from Campitello and half way between the major towns Canazei and Pozza (~5km, easy walks). The small size of the village ensures a quiet location with easy access to any sport activity or nightlife when/if required. Being only a village, there is not a huge amount of shopping and nightlife; however, Fontanazzo has its own restaurant/pizzeria that also works as a pub, and a sport shop (no, this has not all the geeky extreme gear that we are looking for, but only clothes and similar - I will write a dedicated article on the best gear shops around!). However, the sweet and cake lovers like me will be delighted to know that in this village there is the “Dolciaria Fassana“, which is the main pastisserie and bakery for the Valley. Wherever you will go and taste a cake (including high alpine huts), you will probably get a piece of Fontanazzo! From few years ago the factory has open a shop where you can go and buy typical products and fresh cakes every day!

Rental notes: Prices include: energy, water, gas, heating, use of the guidebooks and maps for the area (summer/winter climbing, trekking, walking, via ferrata, ski touring, etc Prices do not include: bed sheets, towels, final cleaning. If you want to travel light and hire bedsheets and towels you can get them for around €5 per person. Final cleaning cost is compulsory and should be paid directly to the building administrator or his wife (in place), usually they ask for €40 for the whole apartment if left in a decent state. Instructions for booking: 1/3 of the amount is required via cash or bank transfer. Before entering the apartment, the full amount needs to be paid + €150 (or £150) deposit (refunded after cleaning).

When you enter the flat, you are in a open space that includes the entrance, with big wardrobes on the right and coat hangers on the left, and the living room. You can find here lots of information about the valley, maps, walks, books, climbing topos for both summer and winter climbs. The sofa opens into a double bed if 2 extra sleeps are required. There is a TV that broadcast many Italian channels and also some German channels plus BBC news24. The kitchen is small but completely refurbished in 2005; it comprises a sink, fridge and appliances including microwave. A door leads to a small corridor that has plenty of hangers, very useful for taking off some layers before accessing to the bathroom or one of the two bedrooms. The bathroom has a 3 pieces (wash basin, WC and "bidet") and a fantastic new large shower. There is also a washing machine in working order that you can use at your convenience. The bathroom has its own window as each of the other rooms have. Regarding the two bedrooms: the main bedroom has a double bed that can fold into a kind of sofa (much more comfortable than a common sofa bed, though!) and generous wardrobe passing over the bed. The second room has 2 bunk beds and allows 4 people to sleep; moreover there is another wardrobe for clothing storage.

Outside Area:the garage entrance is on the ground floor. The assigned parking spot is the first on the right, please park only in this location below the writing “Asioli” on the wall. From here, there are internal stairs to te apartment. On the same floor of the garage there is a shared room for skis and boots.
