About New York State
No matter what you like to see and do, you can find it in New York State! New York State's capital, Albany, lies in the Capital-Saratoga region. Saratoga Springs has been a leading spa and horse racing centre since the late-19th century. On the border with Canada, between Lakes Ontario and Erie is the country's most spectacular attraction, and certainly the most popular - the Niagara Falls. Within an hour's drive visitors can find the beaches of Long Island or escape to the Catskill Mountains to fish, hike or ski. The Finger Lakes region is dotted with resorts, fine lakes and woodland scenery.
Weather in New York State
New York's climate can vary in different areas, but it falls in the continental climate zone and experiences the four seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter).Warm and sunny from May to October, followed by cold winters. Snow is common in the mountains and interior part of the state. Summers tend to be mild, winters are cold with snowfall. The best time to visit New York City is spring and fall.
Getting there
International travellers will almost certainly come in via one of New York City's airports; while the major upstate cities have airports that can accommodate international flights. John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia (LGA) and Newark (EWR) all have cheap flights to help your budget. Buffalo Niagara International Airport is where you will fly if going to lake Erie or Niagara Falls for your vacation.
