Chatel is situated behind Lake Geneva in the Abondance valley of the French Alps, Chatel is a pretty Swiss style Savoyard village retaining its rustic charm with traditional wooden chalets. In winter it is one of the 14 French/Swiss resorts that form part of the "Portes du Soleil", a huge ski area of 266 lifts and 650 km of family friendly skiing. Bordering onto Switzerland, the summer attractions are numerous, including alpine walking whilst enjoying the birds, wildlife and alpine flowers. For the more active there is mountain biking, to swimming, fishing, paragliding, thermal bathing and rafting plus lots of children’s activities. It has two cinemas, a bowling alley, an ice rink, an outdoor swimming pool and the unique 2000m aerial "Fantasticable". Sophisticated Lake Geneva, (e.g. Evian, Thonon, Montreaux, Lausanne (Olympic Museum), plus Chamonix and Mont Blanc are all within easy reach. This is family orientated village and not a coach tour resort and the area is peaceful with an excellent selection of bars and shops, including numerous ski hire/sales shops. Situated at 1350 metres "Chamois" is a chalet apartment ideal for either a winter skiing holiday or a summer alpine holiday. The 50 sq. m. chalet apartment is above Chatel in Petit Chatel, and has views across the whole valley. With its own shop, cafe and bar, Petit Chatel even boasts 2 petanque pitches! During ski season it is only 200m to the local Barbossine chair lift whilst a free bus service runs into Chatel in both winter and summer.

Views:From the south facing balcony (9m) you have superb views of the ski slopes, the Swiss mountains and across the valley to the Mont Grange national park.

Chatel is a pretty traditional Savoyard village bordering Switzerland. Chatel is well served by bars, shops and restaurants. Summer activities include tennis, open air swimming, golf, whitewater rafting, and mountain biking. However nothing beats walking in the mountains and alpine meadows and seeing the flora and fauna. Enjoy the ‘Fantasticable’, a 2000 metres long cable and slung between two mountains and experience the feeling of flying at over 60 miles an hour. Whilst the 600 metre ‘Bob Luge’, is a all season mini Cresta run suitable for all ages. Lake Geneva, with its wide promenade is 40m. Numerous towns dot this huge lake, including Geneva, Lausanne and the Olympic museum, Montreaux and the Jazz Festival, Evian with beautiful promenades and the Nautica aqua park. Visit them by paddle steamer. Beautiful Yvoire is a must see. Castle Chillon on the lake edge is a major visitor attraction, whilst the Panorama train from Montreaux steams through the Bernese Oberland, stopping in Gstaad; see how the other half live1 The winter skiing is superb. The area has a terrific snow record and the 14 linked French and Swiss villages forming the Portes du Soleil, complete with their 266 runs comprising of 650k of groomed pistes. The area has 198 lifts and with heights of up to 2400m (7500ft) they are guaranteed to keep even the keenest skier happy. Snow boarders and skiers alike are catered for. Superbly positioned and equipped the apartment has a comfortable lounge area. The furniture has been chosen to maximise space and includes easy chairs and with a dining area that can seat 6 for meals. Indoor entertainment includes UK satellite TV & DVD, Hi-Fi and assorted music, games, boules and books and magazines. There are two comfortable and roomy bedrooms, one with a double bed and the second is twin bedded, a Z bed is also available. THe twin bedded room has DVD player and TV for the children. Both the lounge and double bedroom lead onto a child friendly 9m sun-facing balcony, furnished and with terrific unrestricted views. The apartment can comfortably sleep a family of 4/5 or 2 couples. Let as a self catering unit clients will need to supply sheets, pillowcases and towels. The modern kitchen is fully fitted with usual kitchen equipment including fridge, microwave and traditional oven. There is a full bathroom with bath/shower plus a separate WC.

Outside Area:The apartment is set into the side of the mountain in Petit Chatel which sits above Chatel and is one of four privately owned apartments within the Chalet, and has a private garage/ski store. A winter attraction for children is the sloping field opposite, perfect for sledging. Close by is the communal gardens and play area with two petanque pitches. The boules are in the apartment. The balcony has chairs, tables and parasols. The area is very quiet and peaceful with little passing traffic
