Welcome to Gite du Paradis! Work-weary? Tired of your retirement routines? Relax, restore and replenish in the serene tranquility of the Hautes Pyrenees in South-West France. Our hilltop farmhouse gite offers beauty, history and character, combined with all modern conveniences to ensure a comfortable and memorable stay and is sure to enchant you. The gite is exceptionally well-appointed, a real home-from-home. The lounge is spacious, comfortable & charming, with original oak beams & includes: * double sofa-bed, armchairs, coffe table, writing bureau, cabinet with books, tourist literature & games, TV with English channels The kitchen is large, bright & airy & includes: * electric oven & hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer,electric kettle, coffee-maker, dining table & chairs, large sofa, music centre., It is generously stocked with ample pots, pans, baking dishes, crockery, cutlery, glasses, decanter, jugs, wine rack, picnic hamper, cool box, hoover, barbecue utensils, garden & sunbed cushions, etc * An oak staircase, open on one side, leads to a landing off which are 2 beautiful & roomy double bedrooms, each with sitting as well as sleeping areas & its own ensuite with shower, sink & WC. * Outside you have your own private terrace with wooden garden table & chairs, sunshade & very large, new gas barbecue. There is also a private garden area for sunbeds & relaxing. * WiFi internet access is available. * Up to 2 dogs are welcome.

Views:Spectacular views of wooded foothills luring you towards the awesome pyreneean mountains in one direction and a long-range valley-vista in another.

Nearby towns are Castelnau Magnoac (12 mins) with banks, Post Office, chemist, supermarket and restaurant and Lannemezan (20-25 mins) with Tourist Office, banks, supermarkets, shops and Wednesday market. Just in the next village is a restaurant serving traditional dishes as well as a variety of tasty pizzas, well worth a visit. Pack up a picnic, or find a mountain restaurant for your midday stop whilst walking in the stunning Pyrenees... the views are breathtaking and the walk totally exhilarating! Take a ramble on the famous GR10 or GR11 trails stretching from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean! With cycling being France's favourite pastime, it's great to see the Tour de France pass through the Pyrenees each July... but whether you'd like to tackle the cols or pedal around the beautiful foothills, it's all there to be enjoyed! A host of ski resorts provide an ample playground for the beginner to the seasoned skier from St Lary, La Mongie, Bagnere de Luchon and Peyragudes all within an hour of the Gite du Paradis. In addition, ski du fond (cross country skiing) and snowshoeing are also widely available here. After a hard day on the slopes, you can check out our famous spas at Aquensis, Bagnere de Bigorre or Balnea, Loudenvielle near Peyragudes. Biarritz (2.25 hours) is a vibrant cosmopolitan town with magnificent beaches, golf courses and numerous sporting facilities, not forgetting the surf.

Rental notes: * Easter fortnight £420. Please note, all these prices are for 2 people. Please add £15 per week for each extra person. For gite bookings please send a deposit against breakages of 150 GBP to secure your booking, refundable when you leave, and the full rental fee is due a minimum of 4 weeks in advance by cheque or in cash upon arrival. Heating is by electric heaters with a 4 GBP per day surcharge between 1 Nov - 1 Mar. A 3-course welcome meal on arrival night is available at 15 euros per person excluding drinks, which are 1.50 euros each. A welcome pack of groceries, including orange juice, milk, tea, coffee, eggs, bread, croissants, jam & wine is provided free of charge.

Your gite consists of: a generous lounge with sofa which opens into a double bed, TV with English channels, armchairs, side tables, lamps and a writing bureau for indoor evening relaxation or getting those postcards done. a large, light and well-equipped kitchen with both a dining table and sofa. From the kitchen stairs take you to a landing, from which lead 2 spacious double bedrooms, each with a sleeping and sitting area and with its own ensuite shower room. Each bedroom has a TV for viewing DVDs (and French channels for the linguists among you!). Bring your own DVDs or sample the wide selection provided. - All bed linen, towels and bathrobes are provided for you.

Outside Area:* The gite has its own private terrace with wooden garden table & chairs, parasol & large, new gas barbecue and barbecue utensils * There is a private garden area with sunbeds & cushions for relaxing & sunbathing * 2 road bikes are available to borrow for exploring the country lanes & foothills * We are happy to supply any further requirements if we can - just ask!
