Poitou-charentes holiday gites in France - Deux-Sèvres self catering gites

Come and visit our beautiful gites in the unspoilt countryside of the Deux-Sèvres, one of the four departments that make up the Poitou-Charentes region in France. We live close to the small village of La Chapelle Thireuil, just north of Coulonges-sur l'Autize, which is approximately 25 kilometers from Niort and about the same from Fontenay-le-Comte. As you will see on the map, we are just inside Deux-Sèvres on the border with The Vendée and enjoy the well-known microclimate that normally gives up to 2600 hours of sunshine per year. The second sunniest region in France. Your holiday accomodation sits in 7 acres of unspoilt French countryside, so if your idea of holiday heaven is peace and tranquility, then look no further, we have it in abundance. The Ornithologists amongst you will not be disappointed either, many species of birds can be seen from the gite gardens - so don't forget your binoculars!

Here, we are going to give just a few ideas of the things you can do during your visit to La Lardiere, all within comfortable traveling distances for a great day out. It doesn't matter what your leisure needs are, you will probably find them close at hand. To help you decide what to do and where to go, there is an information pack in the gite that holds a number of leaflets for you to look through. For those of you who enjoy active holidays, there is golfing, karting, swimming, fishing, horse riding and a forest adventure area nearby. Beaches at La Tranche-sur-Mer, La Faute-sur-Mer and Les Sables d'Olonne are very popular with the French and tourists alike. There are many green lanes in the area, ideal for walking or mountain biking for as long or as far as you wish, one of which passes the gites and leads to the village. In the village you will find a Bakers and a Bar. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, the local Baker stops just outside the gites, as does the Fishmonger also on Wednesdays, and the Butcher on Thursdays.

Rental notes: A refundable damage deposit of 75 GBP (on a separate cheque) is required when balance is due and will be refunded in full at the end of the rental providing no damage has occurred. Christmas and New Year: please contact for rates.

Sunrise features: Bedroom: On the first floor is a light and airy, comfortable, beamed double bedroom with exposed stone wall and en-suite toilet and wash-hand basin. Duel aspect windows offers you lovely views over the gite garden and the countryside beyond. Lounge/Diner (& possible Bedroom 2). The beamed lounge/dining room can become a second bedroom with a fully sprung double sofa bed and fitted wardrobe. There is a television (English free-view channels) and DVD player, complete with a selection of DVD's to view. Some books and games are also provided for your use. Kitchen: The kitchen, featuring beamed ceiling and exposed stone wall is fitted with cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee maker. Also supplied in the bedroom cupboard is an iron and ironing board. A staircase leads up to the bedroom. Shower Room: The ground floor shower room comprises a large walk-in-shower, wash-basin, toilet and electric razor socket. Sunset features: Bedroom:A bright, spacious double bed-room with access to the private garden. Main Living Area with Kitchen (& possible Bedroom 2) : The kitchen area is well equipped with cooker, fridge freezer, washing machine, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee maker. The dining area seats 4 comfortably. Like Sunrise, this gite also has a fully sprung sofa bed, which converts to a comfortable double bed. The television supplied, receives English free-view channels. There is a DVD player with a selection of DVD's and also books and games. Shower Room: The shower room incorporates a large shower, wash-hand basin, toilet and electric razor point. Adjacent to the shower room is a large cupboard that houses iron and ironing board and further storage if needed.

Outside Area:Sunrise: Outside the front door is your own patio area with table and chairs or should you prefer, a large private garden with superb views, garden furniture, BBQ and loungers. Sunset: The large private garden has garden furniture, loungers and a BBQ..
