Trausse holiday house with pool - French self catering Minervois house

Parc de Lignieres is a traditional 17th century Maison de Maitre situated in the middle of an ancient village, Trausse de Minervois, in the Languedoc region. The village is surrounded by vineyards, and is only a few minutes walk from the foothills of the Montaigne Noire.

Trausse Minervois is an old village built around a tower. The village is not very big, it has only 450 inhabitants, but there are lots of interesting alleyways and paths to explore through the village. It is ideal for hide & seek! Outside the village there are vines everywhere, but depending on the season you will also come across fig trees, almonds, olives and cherries. This part of the languedoc is famous for cherries and there are cherry orchards in the area. Biking is good, there are plenty of metalled roads through the vineyards, and for the more adventurous there are the Montaigne Noir to explore. You can cycle into them directly from the village. There is a windmill nearby on the road to Felines Minervois from where you can see Trausse. Within the village there is a grocery shop where you can buy most things including bread, milk, cheese and wine. You can walk to the shop. The village also gets a daily visit from a baker in Pyriac and a van drives around the village with bread.

Rental notes: The balance is payable one month before you arrive. Security deposit of 500 euros, this is also payable one month before you arrive. The Security Deposit will be returned to you after your holiday, less any deductions for damage etc.

Upstairs there are five double bedrooms sleeping 12 comfortably. The master bedroom has a marble fireplace, ensuite bathroom, with its own shower, and a walk in cupboard. There is also a large family bedroom which has a cot, two single beds and a bunk bed. In addition to the ensuite bathroom, there are also two large family bathrooms upstairs with baths, loos and showers in them. The rooms look out on to the sunny private courtyard which has a small fountain and original well (which we have temporarily covered up for safety reasons). The main living room doors open out on to the courtyard which is ideal for outside eating. Downstairs there is a sitting room with an open marble fire place. Opposite it there is a study which also has an open fire and is equipped with landline and wireless Internet connection plus plenty of books and maps on the local area. The huge family kitchen has furniture handmade by the local carpenter including a Caunes marble (the red pink marble of Versailles Palace which is found in the hills above Trausse) worksurface around the kitchen sink, family size gas/electric cooker, dishwasher and large fridge freezer.

Outside Area:Parc de Ligniere’s unusual feature is that it has a large walled garden, like a secret park, beyond the gates of the courtyard. On one side of the garden there is a small orchard with plenty of play space and trees to climb. You will find fig, cherry, plum, pear and apple trees here. The garden area measures 2069 square meters. On the other side of the garden there is a large heated saline swimming pool, measuring 10x5 meters. The pool has an automatic cover that increases security and is highly convenient. The pool itself is surrounded by a security fence for extra peace of mind. Overlooking the pool is the ‘shell house’, a sun trap with its own bar and terrace, ideal for relaxing.
