The main activities of visitors are fishing, boating, beachcombing, swimming, snorkeling, diving, walking, biking, sunset viewing, stargazing, chatting with locals and dining at any of the several diverse eating establishments. The island, originally settled in the late 1790's by loyalists banished from the newly independent united stated of america is well off the beaten track. Because of the lack of a good harbor, the island was slow to prosper like neighboring green turtle or man 'o' war. It's to our benefit today that the island remained almost untouched for 200 years. Lets make it simple: Get on an airplane and get to marsh harbor, Abaco, the Bahamas (1-6 hours) Call for taxi 132 "Abaco Joe" and tell him George & Lori say hi (15 minutes without island history) Get to the conch inn and have a drink at curly tails waiting for the ferry (30 minutes to an hour) Catch the Albury ferry(no cars please its only 30 or so feet long) to Great Guana Cay, it leaves several times a day (about 35 minutes one way) Chorene or jerry will meet you at government dock and take you to donna sands to rent a golf cart.....be sure to call donna early and reserve a cart (see her link) (15 minutes) You then will be then escorted to the orange blossom cottage and given the tour (your host covers these welcoming services, but tips are always appreciated!) (15 minutes) Relax, fish, walk the beach, watch the sunset and forget when to go home! (endless) Enjoy!
