The Cottage at La Platriere is situated within 3 acres of gardens belonging the the owners Chambres d'hotes. The cottage has its own private enclosed garden, and private parking space. Upstairs the cottage, has 2 adjoining bedrooms, one double, one twin-bedded, both rooms having wooden floors, exposed beams and dormer windows which look out across the gardens to the countryside beyond. A beautiful open-tread oak staircase leads the way downstairs into the first of two sitting rooms. This room can easily be converted to make a 3rd bedroom as it has a good quality double bed-settee. The 2nd sitting room has your entertainment in mind, being equipped with TV, video, HIfi music centre with cd player, radio and cassette player. There is also a selection of books, videos and games. The bathroom and separate toilet are also downstairs. The bathroom has a french bath, shower, vanity unit and washbasin. The kitchen is fully equipped with mod.cons, including microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, electric oven, hob and extractor. There are also smaller electrical items such as kettle, toaster, slo-cooker, sandwich toaster and filtre coffee maker. The dining area has views through the french doors leading out onto a patio in the private garden, where you will find outdoor furniture, parasol, and barbeque.

La Platiere is a small hamlet of about 5 houses approximately 4 kms from the small market town of Lurcy-Levis. Situated in the north of the Allier, La Platriere is only 12 kms from the region of Cher in Centre and the Nievre in Bourgougne. Being 5 kms from the forest of Troncais, La Platriere is near local large lakes with beaches perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Local sports such as fishing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking are in abundance. The forest is the perfect haven for wildlife, and guided tours are available for mushroom picking and hearing the belling of the deer. Why not go horseriding in the forest? La Platriere is in the area of the Bourbonnais, birthplace of the dukes of Bourbon, 2 of which became Kings of France. Because of this there are chateaux every 5 kms or so, some are privately owned and others are open to the public. Also dotted about the countryside are old fortresses and castles.

Rental notes: Rental is for strictly up to 6 persons. A non-refundable deposit is taken on booking the cottage, with the balance due 8 weeks prior to commencement of your holiday. The price of the cottage includes all bed-linen, towels, electriciy, water and tourist tax. In addition there is a charge of 40 euros for cleaning which is due on your arrival, and a damage deposit of 150 euros which is returned to you minus any breakages on your departure.

There is also a selection of books, videos and board games. The bathroom and separate toilet are downstairs. The bathroom has a french bath, shower, vanity unit, washbasin and mirror. The kitchen is fully equipped with mod.cons, such as fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, electric oven, four hot-plates and extractor fan. Smaller electrical items include, slo-cooker, toaster, sandwich toaster, kettle and filter coffee maker. The dining area has table and chairs, and french doors lead out into the private enclosed garden, with outdoor furniture, parasol and barbeque. For your comfort the cottage has central heating and is fully insulated. For your safety the cottage complies with EU regulations regarding fire safety, with smoke alarm, fire blanket, extinquisher, and emergengy lighting, and is inspected by SOCOTEC.

Outside Area:Guests staying in the cottage at La Platriere have their own private enclosed garden and parking space. However, you are welcome to use the larger gardens that surround the main house, which include the large outdoor swimming pool, sun-terrace with pool furniture, sun house for shade, petanque, and childrens play area with swings. The garden has many flower beds and trees. The views are stunning as we are situated on a hilltop, and you can see way into the horizon across the valley. Two chateaux are in view from the garden. As owners we live on site in the main house and run a Chambres d'hotes, so we are on hand to advise you of places to visit and available for any problems you may encounter. Four legged members of our household consist of 2 pigmy goats, dog and cat.
