Le coq du nord is a luxurious modern Bed and Breakfast (Chambres d'hôtes) and independent apartment (Gîte) which are situated in an original old wine grower’s house in the tranquil village of Mailhac, within easy reach of all the delightful opportunities on offer in the Minervois and this secluded region of France, close to the border with Spain. Patricia and Iain Sinclair would like to have the opportunity to welcome you into their home. They each have more than 25 years of experience of hosting people in a truly international environment and would like to share these experiences with you. Together they have been working and hosting their friends in more than 11 different homes around the world. After more than 20 years of searching for the ideal spot in the Languedoc Roussillon area, they have final settled in Mailhac. Situated in the heart of the Minervois wine region, Mailhac is an ancient village dating back more than 7000 years. The modern Mailhac surrounds the ramparts of a more ancient village which is amongst the most interesting in France. The original village was built of wood and was situated in the adjacent hills, but after having been burnt to the ground numerous times, it was moved onto the plain and built of the more durable local stones. It is located within easy reach of the places for all of the varied activities that you can enjoy in the magical valley of the Aude. Travel North to explore the area of the Montagnes Noir, its caves, its lakes and its walks and bicycle routes. Head South to the busy beaches of the Mediterranean, Sail serenely along the canal du midi or motor further South to the Pyrenees and on to neighbouring Spain.

Each room is fully equipped with comfortable beds and tries to anticipate the facilities that you feel you may need. By prior arrangement, even Telephone and TV can be provided if you need them. Each room has a fully incorporated bathroom with its own toilet and shower to a standard which is normally only found in your own home or a five star hotel. Sympathetically restored and decorated in the familiar calming Languedocienne colours. Fully climate controlled with individual thermostatic control, these rooms have been prepared to help make you feel completely rested and at ease. To get the best nights rest that is available in the Minervois region; these rooms rate with the best that you have ever experienced. Even Gîtes de France call it a chambre d'hôte de charme!
