Carcassonne holiday Bed and Breakfast - Languedoc-Roussillon B&B for vacations

In the heart of a peaceful medieval village, in the black mountains of the Cabardes, 25km north of Carcassonne and la Canal du Midi, just above the vineyards and sun flowers, surrounded by ancient woods and forests with many walks straight from our front door with a swimming lake only 15mins away, near a national park and Cathar chateaux, medieval villages, churches and abbeys, mountains, gorges, caves and only 1 hours from the Mediterranean coast. Relax in a house dating back to the 15th century part of the village ramparts with thick stone walls enormous beams and huge lounge fireplace. The house has been renovated with care and retains much of the original charm and character. From our sunny balcony enjoy a superb view over our garden (with its sun loungers and bbq), the village valley the river ‘Dure’ and the wooded hillside. Our spacious rooms are individually and tastefully renovated each with a seating area with tea & coffee facilities, baby equipment, cot high chair, bottle warmer, potty and bath availabe on request La Chambre de la Rose (30m² sleeps 1/4) a romantic haven with an en-suite luxury shower room. La Chambre Orchidee (16m² sleeps 1/3) a cosy room with a luxury shared bathroom/shower room. La Chambre Chinise (30m² sleeps 1/4) a touch of the orient with an en-suite shower room La Suite fleur de Lys (40m² sleeps 1/6) 2 rooms great for a family + an en-suite bath/shower room. L’appartement de Chateaux (35m² sleeps 1/4) a self contained self catering studio apartment with well equipped kitchen, a luxury shower room and suntrap private courtyard. L'appartement is also available as B&B. Evening meals are available most evenings with the first night by prior reservation. Oen all year.

25km fromCarcassonne and the Canal de Midi in the Cabardes, in the foot hills of the Black Mountain's of Aude, Cuxac-Cabardes is situated in a double valley 500 metres above sea level, with two rivers which combine and feed the Canal du Midi. Surrounded by ancient woods with rivers which crisscross them and huge forests both with walks and hikes, it is well know for its sweet chestnuts, orchids and mushrooms you may even find a truffle! Just above the vineyards near the National Park of Haute Languedoc with spectacular and diverse scenery, mountains, swimming lakes, rivers, gorges, plateaux, medieval villages, churches and abbeys. Close to the Cathar chateaux of Lastours (4 mountain top castles), La chateau Saissac, church and panoramic view, the pretty medieval village and chateau of Hautpoul, Cubservies hamlet and waterfall 90 metre high, the cave of Limousis the grotto of Cabrespine and the book village of Montolieu. The area has a strong Mediterranean influence with markets piled high with fresh produce, during summer village hold a fetes with dancing to the early hours. From mid June – mid August Carcassonne holds its festival; Jazz concerts, dance spectaculars, theatre ¾ of these are free. 14th of August Carcassonne holds the Embrasement da la Cite medievale de Carcassonne (fireworks display) the largest outside of Paris. In the autumn there are food festivals; onions, foie gras, truffles etc.

The stone house is part of the 15th century village ramparts. It has been modernised but retains much charm and character with thick exposed stone walls, original ceiling beams, and huge lounger fireplace. The large entrance hall has an original tiled floor and our ground floor cloakroom a granite sink. We have a large comfortable lounge/dining room with access onto the sunny balcony which overlooks our garden and the valley. We have 4 spacious and comfortable, individually decorated B&B rooms all with tea and coffee facilities, 2 rooms with en-suite shower rooms, 1 with a shared bath/shower room, and a suite with 2 rooms and an en-suite bath/shower room. We also have a studio apartment with kitchen, shower room and sunny courtyard, available for self catering or B&B. We have a large library of book and children’s books and games and tourist guide books. Baby equipment is available (cot, high chair, bottle warmer, potty and bath) on request. Evening meals are available most nights but please book in advance for the 1st night.

Outside Area:Our large walled garden is south facing and we have sun loungers and there are tables and chairs under the shade of the vine covered arbour and a bbq and sink. We have a vegetable garden, flowers herbs trees and large stand of bamboo and a huge old cedar tree. The garden is peaceful and boarders the village green with a river and picnic area. the village has good amenities 2 bakers a butcher a good corner store, a post office a tea shop and an antique shop, and a riding school. The village is in a valley in the Black Mountain's of Aude and is surrounded by ancient woods and forests with many walks straight from our front door.
