Pleasant cottages, very clean, full of character, tastefully decorated situated in a remarkable, unspoilt, peaceful rural setting in the very heart of the chateau district: an asset as you don't have to drive very far before finding a chateau, a forest, a river or a museum to suit everyone's taste. The paved terrace, flooded with sunshine is a plus. It is also beneficial to be close to the friendly owners (close also to the city park and supermarket). Les Roses: A small detached cottage, fully restored with all modern conveniences situated a few yards from the main village shopping area. The gite looks onto the private courtyard, close to the owner's house. A very quaint little house with a 1st floor full of character with a flight of steps leading to it (3 steps). The owner loves flowers and the court yard is lined with flower beds, shrubs and jardinieres. On one side of the cottage there is a paved area with garden furniture, an ideal spot for eating, sun bathing or relaxing The owner is bi-lingual and a former French Lecturer with a wealth of teaching experience in the UK. French tuition based on tailored-made courses is offered at reasonable rates from beginners to advanced levels. For a better understanding of the French way of life translation on site and house hunting help for the keen people prospecting the area are also offered on request. You will be warmly welcome and happy to stay in any cottage whatever the season and the duration of your stay.

Near the medieval market towns of Montrichard and Saint-Aignan on the River Cher in the very heart of the Chateau area, situated in a village famous for its 18th Century abbey, these fully restored and modernised cottages are close to the owner's garden, shops, bars and near a lovely shady city park with tennis courts. Pontlevoy is 13km South of Chaumont, 25km South of Blois, 8km North of Montrichard on the D 764. In the village, the 18th century Abbey with its gothic church is an impressive building now housing an American University. It is possible to see the 25 wall panels of the Street Museum depicting 20th century rural life, to attend the highly-regarded Music Festival on the Abbey premises as well as other activities (theatrical, painting courses), "Masters" on specific musical themes and entertainment taking place during the Summer Season. For fins gourmets there are wine storerooms or "chais" open to visitors and a famous cheese-making farm (goat's cheese or "fromage de chèvre") A few miles away, among troglodytes dwellings, some old quarries extracting the tufa stones for building kings' castles have been converted into 'caves' for growing mushrooms, for storing thousands of wine bottles (cabernet, Gamay, Sauvignon, Créman de Loire) or for housing exhibitions (silk worms). There are so many things to see that a fortnight stay is highly recommended.

The 100 Euro security deposit is totally or partly reimbursed 15 days later * after your stay *-minus cleaning, damages and extras such as linen if it applies.*To simplify the refund procedure to foreign visitors leaving far away and returning home at the end of their stay refund can be arranged after a full inspection of the cottage and just before leaving. To save money although we strongly encourage visitors to bring their own sheets and linen, sheets, bathroom linen and kitchen linen can be supplied to all members of your party at extra cost. Nine options are available on request. A 10% discount is offered to those staying a fortnight; extra discount given to regular customers. Change over day usually Saturday during the Summer /High season, but flexibility could apply according to customer’s request and length of stay for those who want to stay less than a week although a one week minimum stay during the Summer season is still very popular and strongly advisable; besides that 3 days is the minimum stay period required.

The cottage is small and quaint, spotless, compact and attractive (sleeps 1-2) Downstairs A fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, shower-room (shower, wc, washbasin) and comfortable sitting room. Upstairs Through a steep but original wooden staircase with 12 steps is the bedroom with a double bed, extra wc and washbasin and good furniture, Velux and double glazed window with an electric operated blind. The cottage is very old, has exposed pegged beams and an original tiled floor upstairs. To reach the entrance there is a flight of steps with 3 steps. All windows are double glazed with electric-operated blinds to keep it cool in Summer. All rooms have a convector heater with a thermostat. 2 files are provided: one illustrated with 14 suggested routes, places of interest, and the other one with bi-lingual notes on the inventory, the village, the area and outdoor activities. A mini tourist office room is available for viewing documents and preparing your outings. By special request, possibility of sleeping dowstairs instead of upstairs on a bed-settee if need be.

Outside Area:The cottage has its own paved terrace with garden furniture for eating, an ideal place for reading, sun-bathing and relaxing in peace. You have access to the owner's garden to play pétanque, dry your clothes on the line or barbecuing around a stone table among wild flowers. The gite is secured because there is a locked gate at the entrance of the drive. You can park your car in the yard for security reasons and convenience. Can be combined to the other larger cottage for accommodating a larger party(max 8) for a special occasion (wedding, celebration, reunion)
