Wooden window frames and wooden staircase

The theme for this cottage is very much arabic/ottoman. The cast iron log burner in the salon fireplace, took a front end loader and five men to move it ! The shape of the balusters on farm houses in our area of Turkey, is particular to the village and other local rural areas. Ours are very Nif-Arpacik, having looked at a number of the older village houses close by, we have had them copied. Inside we have applied three coats of traditional limewash and the sash windows are a traditional design. The window frames we rescued from an hotel that was being “modernised” ! The wooden staircase balusters match the balcony. The tops of the garden walls and main shaded area are planted with flowers, herbs and shrubs. Over the next few years years, these will become fully established. There is a communal seating and bbq area under the trees between Tas Evi and Incir Evi, next door. At the rear of the bbq area there is a washing machine, shared by both cottages. Our intention is to make the area around the cottages as close to being an English wild meadow as possible. Our rescue donkeys and sheep will then be rotated on the field the cottage overlooks and with our other three fields, they will get the maximum natural grazing.

Nif-Arpacik village is 40 minutes drive from Fethiye, on the coast. The village is 1,050 metres above sea level. The village is located in a bowl of mountains that creates a micro climate. This climate is ideal for growing cherries. The cherries are not just any cherries. The valley grows the world famous Napoleon cherries, which are exported all over Europe. The centre of the village is 3 kilometres from the cottage. There are two small market shops that sell basic provisions, one of which sells alcohol. There is a small village restaurant that sells local pide (Turkish pizzas) and a limited general menu. There is a village bakery which operates a wood fired stone oven. The bread is to die for !! Sandy is an excellent cook. We offer our guests a two course, evening meal service, delivered to your cottage, at £10.00 per head. The cottage is located in a working farming community. The views are stunning. The cottage is in a valley dominated by the highest mountain in the Mugla region, which is called Cal Dag (pronounced Chal Dar). The mountain soares to 2,300 metres above sea level. Sandy and Jon are the only Europeans in the village. The villagers are very friendly and helpful, especially if you are willing to try a bit of basic Turkish ! The location is ideal for those who are looking for a totally quiet, peaceful, get away from it all holiday. Tas Evi is ideal for those who enjoy stunning scenery, the noise of tractors and farm animals and total relaxation

Rental notes: We request a 50% down payment from all our clients to confirm and secure their bookings. Payment of the balance is required one month prior to clients arriving for their holiday, please. Once down payments and balances are paid, both are non refundable. As you access the cottage, to the right of the hallway is the shower room. This room has been designed in muted colours, with a recessed shower tray. To the left, as you enter the hallway, is a door into the double bedroom. This has been tastefully furnished in colours of blue, black and gold. There is a traditional ottoman clothes storage cupboard. Accessed via the wooden staircase is the kitchen and large salon. The kitchen is fully equipped. It is fitted with a gas/electric hob and an electric oven. There is an under counter fridge. There are lots of pots, pans, cutlery and crockery, more than sufficient for two guests. The salon is furnished with a spectacular ottoman three piece suite, upholstered in a dark red finish. The room has lots of nick-nacks, we have collected on our travels. Hidden away in a wooden chest is a DVD player. There is an extensive DVD library at the cottages and our home, customers can borrow. For customers staying during the colder months, there is a huge cast iron, log burning stone, which makes the room toasty warm. The balcony, which stretches the whole length of the cottage, is accessed via a low door off the salon. On the balcony, there is a cedar dining table that actually seats six !! There is an arabic sofa and comfy chairs on the balcony, so visitors can totally relax. Accessed through a low door off the salon, is the balcony that stretches the full width

Outside Area:At ground level, under the balcony there is a shaded, walled, private garden. Between the two cottages, we have created a communal seating and barbecue area. The stone based sofas with lots of cushions are very Turkish ! Also located in this outside area is a washing machine, for our visitors. There is a drying racks at the cottage. There is also a deep freeze, filled with meals and deserts, cooked by Sandy, that customers can defrost whilst they are out and about all day, so their meal is ready and waiting for them when they return to the cottage. The two course meals are charged at £10.00 per head and there is an honesty list on the freezer, which customers fill in. The meals are totted up and paid for when customers leave. Tas and Incir Evi are located in a active, traditional farming community. Here in the mountains, water is a prized and valuable resource for the farmers. As we are also part of the farming community, we could not use this scarce resource to fill swimming pools. Each of the cottages has an outside shower, for cooling off. The cottage is ideal for those wanting a totally quiet and relaxing time. The location is ideal for walkers/hikers, painters, book worms and cyclists and those just getting away from it all. There is wifi available at Sandy & Jon's house. There is a DVD player and an extensive disc library at the cottage. There is also a docking station with speakers, suitable for ipods and MP3 players.
