Madeira, belonging to the Azores, is an island in the Atlantic Ocean, about 700 km west of Africa and 1000 km southwest of the Portuguese coast. The largest city and the capital of Madeira is Funchal. If you want to visit the city then you need at least two days. Because of its beautiful nature, many forests and mountains, Madeira is very popular by hikers and nature lovers. The island has a volcanic origin. The highest mountain is Pico Ruivo (1862 m). Walking along the Levadas: Levadas are Madeira’s irrigation canals bringing water from the rainy north to the plantations of the sunny south. There are over 2000 km of routes next to the levadas to maintain them. These can be used to make trips on the island. A day trip can best start from the marsh plain of Paul da Serra. This is the largest water reservoir, where much Levadas start. Madeira - Climate The Madeirian climate is subtropical. A warm summer and mild winter characterize the weather on the island. Only very exceptional the weather will be too hot or too cold. Rain falls mainly between October and March. Canico De Baixo - General Information Caniço is an important tourist center on the south coast of Madeira, situated between the cities of Santa Cruz and the capital Funchal. Built against a hill, from the village you can enjoy spectacular views of the landscape and the ocean. Canico is a picturesque area with a pleasant town square, a church and a boulevard with shops and restaurants. The area is restful with nice vegetation and is great for taking walks. The coast is rocky and is interspersed with a few nice small beaches. Via the beautiful promenade along the shore you walk up to Reis Magos "beach" where you can enjoy a "back to nature" splash or a swim in crystal clear water. The typical liveliness of the village and the beautiful coastline, make of Caniço a real holiday!

Palheiro golf: The 200 years old Paleiro estate boasts a beautiful location, 10km east of Funchal, on a hill overlooking the ocean and the capital. The golf area stretches around the Paleira area. Santo Da Serra golf: The Santo da Serro golf is located in the quiet mountain village of Santo da Serra , 6 km from Santa Cruz and the International Airport of Madeira. Diving The mild temperatures all year round and its clear waters with excellent visibility, makes Madeira a popular diving paradise. Interesting dive sites such as the maritime nature reserve, caves and ship wrecks lend themselves to beautiful underwater pictures. Restaurants In Caniço De Baixo, the centre of Caniço and in Funchal you will find many good traditional restaurants with high quality food at prices you can afford. Close to the apartments you will find “Klenk’s Café” where you can also take breakfast at an affordable price. Hiring a car is recommended!

Rental notes: A rental agreement will be made. A deposit of 150 euro is required. Bedlinen and towels are available at no extra cost. Final Cleaning fee: 50 euro To confirm booking, 30% of rental price is due. Six weeks prior to start rental period, the remaining amount is due.
