Casa do Tanque belongs to a two-house complex and is located in the village of S. Pedro Nordestinho in the eastern part of the Nordeste municipality, São Miguel island. The complex comprises the manor house, where the old homeowners used to live (Casa do Tanque), and an old agricultural annex, which is entirely restored and transformed into a dwelling (A Arribana). The houses are part of a 1,500 m2 plot of land, which has been turned into a garden. Outside, the two houses share a covered veranda with a barbecue grill, a pool and a croquet court. The Casa do Tanque has two double bedrooms, a kitchen/living room with a wood burning stove and a traditional wood-oven and a bathroom. The Nordeste municipality is the best kept secret on São Miguel Island. Its untouched nature, with a large area of laurel forest, inhabited by the Azores bullfinch, a unique species, and its breathtaking landscapes, with the deep blue sea forming the backdrop, create a refuge par excellence for those in search of a lost paradise.

As a holiday destination, the Azores definitely suit all tastes. As the houses were being rebuilt, we expressly tried to maintain their architecture, restoring the original volume of construction by using traditional materials and techniques. In addition some new elements were added aiming to improve the living conditions. These new elements are characterised by contemporary aesthetical options. The Casa do Tanque has two double bedrooms, a kitchen/living room with a wood burning stove and a traditional wood-oven and a bathroom. At their arrival, the guests will find bread and homemade jams, milk, coffee, tea, fruit, water, butter and cheese. In each house there are also some basic grocery items.

Outside Area:Some of the surrounding plots of land have been turned into gardens, where the peace and quiet of the countryside can be enjoyed. In the gardens, a wide range of ornamental plants can be admired. Some of these plants are endemic and some are fruit trees commonly seen in the backyards of Azorean rural houses.
