You will fall peacefully to sleep as the rainforest embraces you and awaken refreshed to the sweet songs of our indigenous birds. The Artist Cottage enjoys a mountain rainforest altitude of 3,500 feet, a temperate climate of sunny days and cool evenings with breathtaking starlight views on clear nights. The Artist Cottage is near the summit of Mauna Loa where magic begins and the sky never ends. You are only 1 mile from Volcano Village - a community well known for traditional and contemporary artists. You will enjoy browsing the numerous galleries and visiting some of the local cafes and restaurants, including the famous Kilauea Lodge with its charm of old Hawaii. The village also has two country stores, gas stations, and a post office to accommodate you. And remember, you are only minutes away from the entrance to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park where legends are born and the world's new landscapes are created.

Rental notes: Rates based on double occupancy. Children under 10 are free. This fee covers provided breakfast and linens used. Additional person over 10 years old is 20 USD per person per night.

The Artist Cottage is lovingly decorated with deep greens and sunny yellows that balance nicely with the bamboo flooring and the fine art of Bonnie Layton in every room. You step through the front door into an open sitting room, dinning room, and a modern, well appointed kitchen with a wall of windows making the lush surroundings outside part of your enchanting indoor experience. Fresh flowers and fresh fruit await you. Please Note: Be prepared for some rain during your visit. Umbrellas & flashlights are provided. Long pants, rain jackets, sweatshirts and hiking boots are recommended additions to your island wardrobe
