Chateau des Egrons in Duras - Holiday Chateau near vineyards of Dordogne

Chateau des Egrons is a gem set in the gentle hills of SW France's wine heartland. The garden (2.5 acres) is surrounded by a clipped hedge and enjoys panoramic views. The private tennis court, heated pool, table tennis etc provides lots for all ages. The huge kitchen (40 ft x 50 ft) is at the heart of the house and the 5 beautifully decorated receptions rooms have something for everyone. The TV room has hi fi, UK SKY Channels, DVDs and videos. Wi-Fi is provided as is all linen including swim towels. The 5 bedrooms are large and all rooms are tiled with high beamed ceilings and rugs. Background central heating is provided for cool spring and winter months. The chateau enjoys a very high proportion of repeat visitors and the publicity material does not capture its magic in terms of space and ambiance. In addition to the dining room and the huge kitchen there are several places to eat depending on time of day, season and mood. The covered logia, the lovely courtyard, the rear terrace and under the walnut trees by the pool. There are 4 toilets, 2 of the bathrooms are en-suit, and the Chateau sleeps 11 in great comfort plus baby cot.

Floor Area:Very Large

The ancient town of Duras is a short distance (3 Km) away and the lovely towns of St Emillion and Bergerac are about 35 minutes by car. The area is surrounded by lovely food and fine wine producers and this information is set out for visitors. There are wonderful places to eat, including cooks who will come to prepare food at the Chateau, drives, walks, hourse riding, activities on the Dordogne river (only 15 minutes away) and championship golf. A great place from which to explore the region.

All Rooms are large. The Kitchen has an adjoining pantry and laundry room and has a large family table that will seat 14 or more people. The Conservatory is south facing and very private; a good room to access the pool and dry swim-ware. The garden room is an informal salon with lovely furniture and views on to the south west garden. The formal salon is an elegant room and has featured in publications. The dinning room is not often used as there are so many places to eat but is a lovely room with an antique Chinese bridal bed converted to a formal dinning table. The TV room has all the modern hi fi equipment you would expect including top range audio speakers and SKY TV. All the 5 bedrooms are large. 4 have double beds and one has a French day bed in addition. One bedroom has three single beds and there are cots and high chairs for infants.

Outside Area:The loage heated pool has panoramic views, decking, ample high quality seating and recliners. It also has a solar powered safety cover in compliance with French pool safety laws. The all weather tennis court is very high quality. There is a table tennis table in the South-East tower and a championship standard table football table in the main building. There is a gas and a conventional BBQ and high quality seating at both the front courtyard and the rear terrace. Championship golf is a short drive away as are the activities on the river. Boules has been played in the courtyard for centuries and lazing in the grounds is a popular pastime!
