Luxury self-catering villa in Madeira - Summerplace mountain vacation home

The villa is a well-renowned guesthouse and is now offered on a self-catering basis for those who want the privacy of a large home with own swimming pool. The house was completely renovated and refurbished in 2007 and well maintained since. All rooms are tastefully decorated with lots of thoughtful touches for an enjoyable stay. All bedrooms are either sea-facing or look onto the beautiful garden and pool. The large open plan lounge/dining area can seat up to groups of 8 people. The tall floor to ceiling windows command spectacular views over the Atlantic and magical sunsets. There is a deck beyond the dining area that is very popular for alfresco breakfasts and for relaxing. The rim flow pool has the effect that you are swimming in the Atlantic. There is safe off-street parking, wi-fi throughout and flat-screen TVs in every bedroom.

The property is located in the south west of the Island away from the noise and pollution of Funchal and the east. The villa is set within a small country lane within a rural hamlet. It is ideally situated for nature hikes in the forest and the famous levada walks. There are 12 restaurants in the local vicinity all accessible within 5 o 10 minutes by car. The Island has an excellent highway infrastructure and all tourist attractions are accessed within a couple of hours. Funchal and its shopping malls and cinemas are a 45 minute drive by car and the airport is about 1 hour. We highly recommend that our guests hire a car for the duration of their stay. Taxis are expensive and public transport is infrequent and unreliable.

The villa has been lovingly furnished and decorated with souvenirs and paintings from around the world. The upmarket furnishings breathe quality. There are 5 bedrooms (all en-suite), some with sea views and others looking onto the garden and pool area. There is a large lounge/dining area featuring double volume ceilings and large floor to ceiling windows to take account of the views onto the sea and nature reserve.The lounge has a coal-burning fireplace for the colder winter nights. There is also an excellent library with a large variety of novels and coffee-table books in English, German and French.

Outside Area:The house is surrounded by the mature well-kept gardens. The total area is about 2500 sqm. There is an owner-designed private swimming pool with rim flow. The gardens feature mature shrubs, trees, flowers and expansive lawns.
