The small village of Jardim do Mar, meaning 'Garden of the Sea' is situated on Madeira’s stunning sunny west coast, looking out to sea at the foot of spectacular cliffs. This tranquil unspoilt village of old stone houses, narrow cobbled streets and lush gardens is widely considered by both tourists and Madeirans to be one of the most beautiful on the island. It is noted for its world class surfing and has two friendly bars, one of which, 'Joe's Bar' offers delicious great value authentic Madeiran cuisine freshly made to order. In addition, there is a large restaurant, a village shop and a library offering free internet access. The car park at the edge of the village has enabled it to be largely pedestrianised, with a 1km long seafront traffic free promenade lined with palm trees. The little harbour has a slipway for small boats, a clean pebble beach for swimming and snorkelling, and a beach bar. Within a short drive, nearby Calheta has a sandy bathing beach, shops, several restaurants and a marina where whale and dolphin watching or fishing excursions can be arranged. Some of the island's finest scenery and walking are within a 20 minute drive!

The patio area is suitable for large groups and offers patio furniture, outside lighting and is complemented by flower borders and typical Madeiran 'Calcada Portuguesa' stone paving. The first floor veranda (fully equipped with sunbeds) is a suntrap for sun lovers by day and a peaceful haven by night for those who delight in watching the sun go down (accompanied by a delicious glass of Madeiran wine of course!)
