Turkish holiday rental cottages - Kayakoy self catering cottage

The Byre is the first of the cottages that was bought and is the largest of the four. The ruin was purchased in 1993 and took a little over a year to restore. The restoration was done after much research into what the original building looked like, both inside and out. The cottage was awarded a plaque from the Turkish Ministry Of Tourism & Culture for “Sympathetic Restoration Of Turkish Heritage” of which Sandy & Jon Carter are justifiably proud. The cottage is situated at the highest point at the western end of the Kaya valley, with stunning views in all directions. The interior of the cottage consists of a hallway cut into the rock leading onto the kitchen on one side and the master double bedroom, with en suite bathroom on the other. Leading off the fully fitted kitchen is a very large sitting room with a traditional log burning stove, for use in the winter months. The sitting room also has a balcony area which has two single beds. This type of room design was very common in farm houses in the area. The kitchen looks out onto a walled patio garden. Over the years the flower beds have become well established and shade is provided by some beautiful trees and a covered pergola. Total privacy is assured as the upper garden and plunge pool are accessed by steps leading up from the patio. There is a plunge pool in the western corner of the upper garden which is for the exclusive use of the guests staying at The Byre. Next to the pool, which is at the highest point in the village, is a wooden Ottoman style kosk (pronounced kushed). The kosk is a traditional type of outside seating area, where there are sun loungers to relax on. The kosk allows a 360 degree, uninterrupted panoramic view of the whole of the Kaya Valley.

Sakli Vadi cottages are located in the farming village of Kinali, in the picturesque Kaya Valley, on a peninsular between the towns of Fethiye and Oludeniz. The peninsular is on the Mediterranean Sea coast of Turkey. The cottages are just over an hour’s drive from our local airport at Dalaman. The Kaya Valley is situated east of the town of Fethiye on Turkey’s Turquoise Coastline and about 900 feet above sea level. The area in ancient times was part of the Kingdom of Lycia. Passing through Kinali Village at the far western edge of the valley, the road winds down to the coast at Gemiler Bay. This delightful pebble beach is safe for swimming and there are a number of restaurants on the beach which sell local delicacies and drinks.

Rental notes: We request a 50% down payment from all our clients to confirm and secure their bookings. Payment of the balance is required one month prior to clients arriving for their holiday, please. Once down payments and balances are paid, both are non refundable. The reason for this is that once a deposit is paid, all other bookings for the cottage for the same period will be declined. Thank you for your understanding. However, the Byre has two additional single beds on a balcony above the salon. These are suitable for teenagers. In the high season, we charge GBP. 62.00 per bed per week (or GBP. 9.00 per night for stays of less than one week) per bed used. In the low season, we charge GBP. 49.00 per bed for a full week or GBP. 7.00 per individual nights used.

The cottages were designed to offer busy professionals a tranquil and relaxing setting for a restful holiday, in one of the most attractive areas of southern Turkey. Located in a traditional farming village, the noisiest neighbors are the chickens, goats and cows!

Outside Area:Each of the cottages has been lovingly restored as close as possible to its original design but with all mod cons and fittings expected of a modern property. Although the cottages are mainly designed for two persons sharing, The Byre, the largest of the three, has a traditional balcony located in the main salon. On the balcony are two single beds, suitable for teenagers. Kucuk Evi has a master bedroom with en-suite. In the salon are two settle single beds, one either side of the fireplace, suitable for youngsters. Kucuk Evi has a second shower room off the salon. Sakli Vadi is a TV and internet free zone! Leading off the fully fitted kitchen is a very large sitting room with a traditional log burning stove, for use in the winter months. The sitting room also has a balcony area which has two single beds. This type of room design was very common in farm houses in the area.
