The Cape Verde islands sit 300 miles off the West African coast. One hour south of the Canaries, a direct flight from the UK takes just 6 hours. The weather is consistently warm and dry, with virtually no rainfall.
The beaches are superb, the sea is warm and crystal clear.
On the island of Sal, the main tourist resort of Santa Maria has plenty of restaurants serving excellent food at reasonable prices.
There are several bars in town including two Irish pubs, and one nightclub.
