Chicxulub Puerto, is a sleepy beach town on the North Gulf Coast of Yucatan Peninsula, east of Progreso. It is a fishing village that is growing in popularity with expats who are buying properties here for permanent, vacation or retirement. Chicxulub village is five minutes by car or bus from the Villa. In Chicxulub are bus, taxis, small markets, (many bake their own bread), restaurants, a pharmacy, internet cafes, and liquor stores. Progreso is a larger town, seven miles west of Chicxulub, with two supermarkets, stores, shopping, internet cafes, plenty of restaurants, some providing food and drink service to covered tables on the beach, colorful street vendors. Cruise ships dock twice a week, attracting local artisans. Yucatan has much to see. Mayan ruins, Haciendas, colorful dancing displays in Merida and ecological pink flamingo preserves and nesting colonies amidst the mangroves. Merida is a lovely city of 800k. A car is recommended. The Villa is close to several Mayan archaeological sites. Dzibilchaltun twenty minutes, Xcambo 30km, CHICHEN ITZA is a two hour drive. Don’t miss the “Ruta Puuc”, a perfect day trip. Begin with the Lol Tun caves, and end with the new Light and Sound show in Uxmal. Visit Sotuta de Peón for a full tour of a working historical hacienda, producing sisal rope from cactus.. Taste many Yucatecan gastronomic delights, including Panuchos, Sopa de Lima.

Rental notes: OFF SEASON rent of $1750/week is for the complete Villa rental (all three levels, 5 suites). Rental rate for a "condo complete" floor level, varies from $800 to $980/week. Three story beach Villa, built in 2006. 5 bedrooms, and tiled throughout. Ceiling fans in all rooms. All three levels are a fully equipped CONDO, down to the wine glasses, with a full kitchen. Towels and linens are supplied. Carved Mexican decor. Spectacular ocean and sunset views. The very spacious, ground floor is wheelchair accessible. It has one bedroom with a king or twin beds. Hammocks available in all bedrooms. A granite-top dining table seats eight or more. A full kitchen with bar and 4 stools. Sliding glass doors open onto a terrace and access to the pool. Groups as large as 40 to 60 persons can be comfortable here. SECOND floor level, has three bedrooms, two queen and one King OR twin beds. Two bedrooms have patio doors onto a large terrace. A full kitchen. Dining table seats 6+. Living room with sofa bed. The Penthouse has one bedroom, plus a sofa bed in the living room. Dining table seats 6 and kitchen table seats 4 more. The bedroom opens onto one of two large terraces from which to enjoy ocean views and sunsets. Completely private.
