Kelowna Bed & Breakfast in Canada - British Columbia guest house accommodation

The Joyce House Bed and Breakfast is a 100 year old home in central Kelowna. In 2002 it received an award for the quality of the restoration work done on the property. In 1913 this house was purchased by the British Womens Emigration Association and named the Joyce Hostel in honour of their president Mrs Ellen Joyce. Young british women stayed at the hostel until they became established in the community. Today, B&B guests can enjoy this historic home in the modern city of Kelowna with its parks, beaches and many fine restaurants. Three rental units are available, one of which has two bedrooms and can accommodate a party of 5. A full breakfast is served daily either in our large dining room or on the veranda. Any special dietary requirements can be catered to with advance notice. A typical breakfast includes local organic fruits in season, home baking (muffins or scones) a main course of meats, eggs or pancakes with juice, tea or coffee. All jams, jellies and syrups are organic and homemade. Many of the fruits and herbs are grown in our own garden.

Kelowna is located in the centre of the Okanagan Valley on the shore of Lake Okanagan. The lake is 110 km long and 3 km wide. Kelowna is the largest city in the interior of British Columbia and is served by an international airport. There is a campus of the University of British Columbia, a major hospital and cancer clinic. The valley is an agricultural area and the city is surrounded by orchards and vineyards. There are over 100 wineries in the valley 12 of which are within a 15 minute drive from the house. Excellent wines are produced here and all the wineries offer tastings. There are more than a dozen golf courses near by and there are free tennis courts a short distance from the house. There are many hiking and cycling trails in the area including the old Kettle Valley railway section in Myra Canyon with its tunnels and tressel bridges.

Rental notes: Between May and October, rentals are per room per day, double occupancy. Extra persons are $30 per day. Discounts are available for stays of 7 days or more. Annie's Room $140 Peggy's Room $120 Jennifer/Kristin's Room $130 From November to April, winter rates are in effect. Weekly or monthly rates are available. Canadian dollars are the preferred currency. Cancellation policy: one night will be charged for cancellations with less than 7 days notice.

Three rental units are available for guests. Annie's Room has a queen sized bed, ensuite with shower and a small sitting room with a futon couch which can be made up as a double bed. Peggy's Room has a queen sized bed and a private bathroom across the hall. Jennifer's Room and Kristin's Room are a two bedroom unit for larger parties. Kristin's Room has two single beds. Jennifer's Room has a queen sized bed and a small sitting room with another single bed. There is a private bathroom across the hall. These bedrooms are on the second floor and all rooms have Tv and VCR. The house is fully air conditioned. On the main floor. the living room and dining room are available to guests.

Outside Area:The house is situated on a quarter acre lot. It has a large veranda with a hot tub. A barbeque is available to guests and we will supply dishes, cutlery, condiments, etc.
