Faro is about 14 kms from the apartment. From Faro to the east, miles wide sandy beaches that are not crowded with tourists. From Faro to the west are the diverse beach coves with rocky peaks and rocks out to the sea gates.
East of Faro you come through the Moorish town of Olhão and Tavira systems, through the fishing village in the dunes, Monte Gordo, and finally to the fishing port and border town of Vila Real de Santo António. The towns to the west are known: the fishing village of Quarteira, the varied seaside resort of Albufeira, the rock scenes of Armcao de Pera and Carvoeiro, the oldest seaside resort on the coast of Praia da Rocha, the historic city of Lagos, fishing port and fortress of Sagres. Of course also "cruise" rather than small coastal vessels along the Algarve coast.
