Summary of this Kaya valley farm holiday cottage in Turkey.
When this cottage was bought, it was home to three generations of villagers and their animals, living in two rooms ! The flat roof of the cottage was originally constructed of traditional rolled clay, which unfortunately had to be removed during the renovations. The flat roof has been retained and can be accessed by stone steps from the garden. Many guests take their sun downers and sit on the flat roof in the evenings catching the cool summer breezes. The cottage roof gives uninterrupted views eastwards across the Kaya Valley, towards the famous Ghost Town and the spectacular Baba Dag mountain, rising to over three thousand meters.
The cottage walls are made of stone and are four feet thick ! These walls, coupled with very small cottage windows, keep the interior cool in summer and warm in winter. The main sitting room has two wood burning stoves and leads onto a fully fitted kitchen and, through a hallway, to the en-suite, air-conditioned master bedroom. Also leading off the salon is a separate shower and bathroom.
Double doors lead off the hallway and kitchen into the secluded walled garden. The patio has a dining area which is next to the traditionally built Turkish fireplace with cushioned benches, where you can comfortably relax. The fireplace can be used to burn logs for warmth in the winter months and we provide a barbecue grid in the summer to cook outside during those long, lazy evenings.

Location of this Kinali traditional farm house.
Sakli Vadi cottages are located in the farming village of Kinali, in the picturesque Kaya Valley, on a peninsular between the towns of Fethiye and Oludeniz. The peninsular is on the Mediterranean Sea coast of Turkey. The cottages are just over an hour’s drive from our local airport at Dalaman.
The Kaya Valley is situated east of the town of Fethiye on Turkey’s Turquoise Coastline and about 900 feet above sea level. The area in ancient times was part of the Kingdom of Lycia.
Passing through Kinali Village at the far western edge of the valley, the road winds down to the coast at Gemiler Bay. This delightful pebble beach is safe for swimming and there are a number of restaurants on the beach which sell local delicacies and drinks.
