Olonzac self catering holiday home in France - Languedoc-Roussillon holiday home

Situated the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France, Olonzac is superbly placed as an excellent touring base in South-West France. Famous for its Cathar history, food, wine and vineyards Olonzac is a wonderful place to stay. The Mediterranean beaches, Montagne Noire and Pyrénées Mountains are all less than an hour away. The accommodation consists of three large double bedrooms (1 king room with ensuite, 1 double room, 1 twin bedded room), 2½ bathrooms (3 toilets, 2 showers, 1 bath), a very large living room, and a fully equipped kitchen. Sleeps 6 comfortably, can sleep a 7th on the landing. Outside is a large courtyard and a garage. Olanzac is only 30 minutes from Carcassonne, Narbonne or Béziers.

Grand Rue is located within the ramparts in the heart of Olonzac, capital of the Minervois, France's famous southern wine region. Probably built in the 10th century but updated structurally and modernised, the house is on three-stories and right in the centre of town. Very private and quiet. Just step outside your door and on a Tuesday you are in the middle of the weekly market. Olonzac is the capital of the Minervois with restaurants, cafes, bars, patisseries, boulangeries, delicatessens, tabac, post office and professional services (doctor, dentist banks etc). A market is held every Tuesday morning right outside the house. There is also a park with children's playing equipment and 3 tennis courts. A magnificent lake, Lac de Jouarress, is only a few minutes away. Here you can fish, sunbathe, swim, windsurf, picnic or sail. There is also a great restaurant and cafe overlooking the water. Olonzac is surrounded by hundreds of vineyards with tasting facilities (in fact 3 are within walking distance). The hills and mountains of the Black Mountains (leading to the Parque Languedoc) are a short distance to the north (10 km) and for beach lovers, the seashore of Narbonne-Plage and Gruissan are only 35 kilometres away. Spain and the Pyrénées are approximately an hour away. Fetes, festivals and markets occur all year round throughout many of the surrounding villages. In winter skiing is available within a 1 hour drive (France) or 2 hour drive (Andorra).

The house was totally refurbished in Autumn 2006 and is comfortably furnished throughout. Having only been opened for rentals from December 2006 , all furnishings are of superior quality. The Living Room - the front door leads straight into the living & dining area and features exposed stonework, with a large fireplace. The kitchen leads off the dining area which is fully equipped and includes oven, microwave and dishwasher. There is a toilet at the base of the staircase on the ground floor. Three double French doors lead onto a large and totally private courtyard. Outside dining is a must and at night the whole area can be lit up with spotlights trained up the 30 foot high wall. Half the courtyard is tiled and the other half gravel. The washing machine and dryer are located in a small stone room off the courtyard. Ascending the staircase you reach the second floor where there are two large double bedrooms, and two bathrooms, one en-suite. One bathroom has a bath, bidet, toilet and shower and the other a hydromassage shower, toilet and double sink. Both have heated towel radiators. All bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. On the next floor there is another bedroom with 2 single beds and a large landing with living area (and possible additional sleeping area).
