The house is situated near the border of the Dordogne in the heart of the Bordeaux wine region, France. This delightful property has been tastefully converted from a large stone barn into one of the most beautiful holiday homes in the area, offering spacious accommodation with large gardens and stunning views. An ideal central location to explore Bordeaux, Bergerac and the Dordogne. A comprehensive supermarket and petrol station is approximately a 2 minute drive away. 1 mile away is the bastide town of Monsegur with its picturesque stone vaulted market square which is host to restaurants, cafés, bars, boulangerie, pharmacie, banks with atm's, pizzeria with weekly live music and a supermarket. Every week there is a traditional French market and during the summer a night market. There are many festivals and events going on through out the region including a very popular annual Jazz festival held in Monsegur every July. For guests that have disabilities, the very young or for the slightly older, most of the property is on the ground floor, except for 3 bedrooms. La Maison Montignac is situated at the end of a quiet no through lane. Set on an acre of countryside and has been described as “one of the most prestigious properties in the area”. One of the attractions must be the view from the front aspect which faces due west over the tennis court. The valley below is filled with vineyards and sunflower fields and in the distance you can see the ancient town of Duras. Situated near the towns of Monsegur and Duras in the region of Aquitaine within the Bordeaux wine region and on the border of the Dordogne, Gironde and Lot et Garonne, France. Bordeaux is approximately just over an hour drive to the west and Bergerac is 45 minutes to the east, St Emilion 30 minutes north. This is the ideal base from which to explore South West France. Located in the region of Aquitaine on the 3 borders of Gironde / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne and is considered to be one of the most picturesque areas of France. The gently rolling countryside is a pleasure to explore, with excellent roads winding their way through fields and vineyards. Perfect cycling country! Monsegur and Duras are ancient Bastide towns set around a market square which are host to weekly markets and also a weekly night market during the peak summer season. There is a good selection of shops including cafes, bars and a pizzeria which host's weekly live music. There is also a cinema in Monsegur, which does show international films in their original language version (VO).
