About Spain
Among many places worth visiting are Spain's thriving capital Madrid, the vibrant coastal city of Barcelona and the city where flamenco was born: Seville. Spain is separated from the rest of Europe by the Pyrenees and reaches south to the coast of North Africa. It has both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines and incorporates two archipelagos - the Balearics and the Canary Islands. Spain has four official languages, two major cities of almost equal importance and a greater range of landscapes than any other European country.
Where to go
From the hot sands of the Costa del Sol to the high peaks of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Andalucía is beautiful and diverse. Life on the islands of Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza is as laid back or active or cultural. Barcelona is a city buzzing with excitement and drenched in sunshine. Sandy beaches of Canaries fringing deep blue waters bask in the warmth of the African sun, tempered by cooling Atlantic breezes. Madrid is the bustling cosmopolitan capital at the heart of Spain with its wide avenues and elegant plazas dominated by Renaissance, Neo-classical and Romantic architecture.
